Repository Policy

Wah Academia Journal of International Law and Policy (WAJILP) is committed to promoting open access, responsible scholarly communication, and the broad dissemination of high-quality research in the fields of international law, public policy, global governance, and related interdisciplinary areas.

The journal supports responsible self-archiving and repository deposit practices to ensure that authors can preserve and disseminate their scholarly work while maintaining accurate links to the version of record published by WAJILP.

Open Access Policy

WAJILP is an open-access journal. All published articles are freely accessible to readers worldwide without subscription or paywall barriers.

The journal's Open Access Policy is available at:

Repository Deposit and Self-Archiving

Authors publishing in WAJILP are permitted and encouraged to deposit their scholarly work in:

  • Institutional repositories;
  • Subject-based or disciplinary repositories;
  • University repositories;
  • National or international scholarly repositories; and
  • Other reputable non-commercial repositories that support scholarly communication.

Authors may deposit the final published version (Version of Record) of their article immediately upon publication.

Where an author deposits a manuscript version other than the final published version, the deposited record should clearly identify the relationship to the published article and provide a link to the official version of record on the WAJILP website.

Embargo Period

WAJILP does not impose an embargo period on repository deposits.

Authors may deposit their accepted manuscript or final published version immediately upon publication, subject to the repository's own technical or administrative requirements.

Version of Record and Citation

Authors are encouraged to ensure that repository records contain the full bibliographic citation of the published article and, where available, a persistent link or DOI leading to the official version of record on the WAJILP website.

Repository copies should not be presented as a separate or independently published version of the article.

Metadata and Discoverability

WAJILP makes article metadata available to relevant indexing, abstracting, scholarly discovery, and open-access services in order to improve the discoverability, accessibility, and long-term visibility of published research.

Jisc Open Policy Finder

WAJILP's open-access and repository/self-archiving policy is also registered in the Jisc Open Policy Finder, an international service that provides information about open-access publishing, repository archiving, and compliance policies for journals and publishers.

Authors, institutions, librarians, and research-support professionals may consult the WAJILP record through:

Jisc Open Policy Finder

The Jisc Open Policy Finder is the successor to the former Sherpa services, including Sherpa Romeo, and provides a consolidated platform for open-access policy information.

WAJILP's policy as stated on this website remains the authoritative statement of the journal's repository and self-archiving conditions.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  1. Ensuring that deposited copies accurately identify the article and its publication in WAJILP;
  2. Providing appropriate bibliographic citation to the published article;
  3. Linking the repository record to the official WAJILP version of record whenever technically possible; and
  4. Complying with any applicable institutional, funder, or repository-specific technical requirements.

Repository Recommendations

WAJILP encourages authors to use reputable institutional, disciplinary, or subject repositories appropriate to their field and geographical context.

Authors should select repositories that provide stable records, appropriate metadata, and mechanisms for long-term scholarly preservation and discovery.

Policy Review

WAJILP may periodically review and update this policy to maintain alignment with developments in open-access publishing, repository practices, indexing requirements, and internationally recognized scholarly communication standards.

Any substantive changes to this policy will be reflected on the journal's official website.
