Health Laws and Impact of COVID-19: A Socio-Legal Study in Bangladesh

Abstract

COVID-19 originated in China and subsequently spread worldwide. It reached Bangladesh in March 2020, and after a few days, it became a threat to the people of the country. While the people of Bangladesh were suffering greatly, some individuals tried to benefit through illegal means, such as providing fake certificates, low-quality masks, PPE, and other medical supplies. There are several laws in Bangladesh, and by enforcing those laws, the situation can be improved. This study will examine the relevant laws relating to health. It will also consider the issue from social, economic, and other contextual perspectives. Finally, this study will attempt to identify the present situation and provide specific recommendations through which the people of Bangladesh can be protected.
